Meet the Artist
Marcie is a Sinologist and an artist. She’s trained in and studied the Chinese language, the country’s art and culture. She spent years living in China and during that time cultivated a devotion to characters, calligraphy, and the discipline of drawing, where meaning and gesture converge.

The Study of China
As a Sinologist, Marcie spent years studying and living in China, developing a deep appreciation for its language, artistic traditions, and visual culture. Her relationship with Chinese art begins with study, observation, and lived experience.
A European Interpretation
Chinoiserie emerged from Europe's fascination with China. A decorative tradition inspired by Chinese art, objects, and ideas, then transformed through the European imagination.
